Perpetual funding gives almost nothing away this morning. BTC, ETH and SOL all print the same blended +10.9%, Hyperliquid and OKX agree on every coin, and each one is tagged balanced. The disagreement lives in options and prediction markets, where both are paying for more action than the tape has delivered.
| Asset | Funding (blended) | 25Δ skew | Implied / realized vol | Open interest |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BTC | +11% (HL +11 / OKX +11) | -3.2 | 38.3 / 31.4 | $3.39B |
| ETH | +11% (HL +11 / OKX +11) | -4.7 | 53.4 / 46.9 | $2.62B |
| SOL | +11% (HL +11 / OKX +11) | n/a | n/a / 54.3 | $0.55B |
Funding annualized; negative means shorts pay longs. 25Δ risk reversal in vol points; negative means downside hedged. Snapshots, not positions.
Read together, the three signals are not telling one story. The crowd is quiet: funding is balanced on all three majors with no venue split, so there is no leverage lean to trade off. Options are a different matter. BTC implied vol sits above realized by 6.9 points and ETH by 6.5, so both are priced rich; the market is paying for optionality and is not settling into calm. Skew points the same way, with BTC at -3.2 and ETH at -4.7. Downside protection carries the bid, and ETH is hedged harder than BTC. So positioning is neutral while hedging demand is anything but. SOL has no options read, and its realized vol of 54.3 is the highest of the three. Its $0.55B of open interest is small next to BTC's $3.39B and ETH's $2.62B.
Kalshi runs above options fair on both BTC strikes, by 2.6pp at $78,000 and by 1.7pp at $82,000. The gaps are small. They still say event bettors see less downside risk around $79,887 than the skew implies.
Funding offers no signal, so watch whether rich implied vol starts to look justified. A move toward $78,000 would test Kalshi's certainty against the put bid, and a push toward $82,000 would vindicate the long-shot pricing. If the tape stays this quiet, the premium in ETH and BTC options is the thing most likely to give.
