Funding reads balanced across BTC, ETH and SOL this morning, with Hyperliquid and OKX lined up on every name. The tension is not in the crowd. It sits in the vol surface, where implied keeps running above what the tape has actually paid out.
| Asset | Funding (blended) | 25Δ skew | Implied / realized vol | Open interest |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BTC | +10% (HL +11 / OKX +8) | +0.1 | 37.7 / 31.6 | $3.23B |
| ETH | +1% (HL +0 / OKX +1) | +1.6 | 49.4 / 39.9 | $2.85B |
| SOL | +11% (HL +11 / OKX +10) | n/a | n/a / 51.7 | $0.67B |
Funding annualized; negative means shorts pay longs. 25Δ risk reversal in vol points; negative means downside hedged. Snapshots, not positions.
No lean worth flagging on the funding side: BTC blends to +9.5%, ETH barely positive at +0.6%, SOL at +10.7%, and all three carry the balanced tag with venues in agreement. The story is vol. BTC implied sits 6.1 points above realized, ETH a wider 9.5 points above, so options on both are pricing more movement than recent price action produced. ETH's 25d skew of +1.6 leans slightly to the upside tail, BTC's skew is flat at +0.1. SOL has no skew or implied read, only a realized print of 51.7, so there is less to say there.
Kalshi puts BTC reaching $88,000 at 1% against a fair value of 0%, a half a point rich, which is noise more than a view.
With funding balanced and venues aligned, watch whether realized starts catching up to the implied levels options are charging, especially on ETH. If the tape stays quiet, that vol premium is a cost someone is paying for movement that has not shown up.
