Longs pay across the board, options still price more than the tape gives

Funding is bid the same way everywhere: BTC, ETH and SOL all have longs paying hard, and the venues agree on it. There's no split in the crowd to speak of. The tension is elsewhere, in what options are charging versus what price is actually doing.

Positioning & volatility

AssetFunding (blended)25Δ skewImplied / realized volOpen interest
BTC+11% (HL +11 / OKX +11)+4.037.6 / 35.3$3.61B
ETH+10% (HL +11 / OKX +9)+6.153 / 50.3$3.13B
SOL+13% (HL +14 / OKX +11)n/an/a / 56.8$0.71B

Funding annualized; negative means shorts pay longs. 25Δ risk reversal in vol points; negative means downside hedged. Snapshots, not positions.

The crowd is leaning long across all three majors, with SOL carrying the heaviest funding at +12.7% blended and BTC and ETH close behind. Skew is positive on both BTC and ETH, so the upside tail is the one getting bid, not the downside. And on both names implied is sitting above realized: BTC by 2.3 points, ETH by 2.7. That's vol trading rich, the market paying up for movement it hasn't yet seen delivered. Long crowd, calls bid, and options pricing more than the tape gave: those three point the same direction here, which is a market positioned for more upside than it's currently getting.

The interesting thing today is the absence of a fight. HL and OKX agree on funding for all three coins, with the widest split just ETH at +10.9 versus +8.5, hardly a disagreement worth naming. When the venues line up this cleanly, the read is the positioning itself, not the gap between books.

What the prediction markets believe

Kalshi has BTC above $88,000 at 4% against a fair value of 0%, a 3.5-point premium on a level well above the $84,718 mark. The $84,000 and $76,000 strikes are already priced as near-certainties.

On-chain vs Wall Street

CRCL shows the biggest deviation from its own baseline, running +319bp above where it normally sits versus the last close, so the on-chain market is pricing a firmer open there. COIN and HOOD follow with real deviations too; GME is actually below its usual level and hasn't moved in the way the others have.

StockLast closeToken vs last close
CRCL$92+536 bp
COIN$194+452 bp
HOOD$120+374 bp
META$674+158 bp
TSLA$364+123 bp
GME$23+71 bp

Bottom line

Watch whether funding stays this crowded on the long side into the open, because a market this uniformly leaned one way has less room to be surprised by good news. Vol is rich on BTC and ETH, so the tape needs to start delivering the movement options are already charging for. The Circle and Coinbase tokens pricing a firmer open are the cleaner tell of where sentiment is reaching.
