Options price more movement than the tape has delivered across BTC and ETH

Bitcoin sits near $76,977 with funding balanced and both venues in agreement at roughly +10% blended. The tension isn't in positioning today, it's in the vol surface: implied is running above what the tape actually gave you on both majors.

Positioning & volatility

AssetFunding (blended)25Δ skewImplied / realized volOpen interest
BTC+10% (HL +11 / OKX +9)+0.939.5 / 33.2$2.81B
ETH+6% (HL +11 / OKX +0)+2.954.9 / 48.8$2.57B
SOL-3% (HL +3 / OKX -9)n/an/a / 53$0.58B

Funding annualized; negative means shorts pay longs. 25Δ risk reversal in vol points; negative means downside hedged. Snapshots, not positions.

Funding reads balanced on all three coins, so the crowd isn't leaning hard either way. On BTC the 25d skew is barely positive at +0.9 and implied vol sits 6.3 points above realized, so the market is paying up for optionality that the recent range hasn't justified. ETH tells the same story: skew a touch more positive at +2.9, implied 6.1 points rich to realized. Nobody is crowded, but everybody is paying for movement that hasn't shown up yet.

SOL carries a wide HL/OKX funding split, HL at +2.6 against OKX at -8.8, but the premium is balanced so that's a cross-venue funding dislocation, not a positioning tell. ETH shows a similar gap, HL +10.9 versus OKX +0.3, and again it's mechanics rather than one book leaning long.

What the prediction markets believe

Kalshi has BTC above $76,000 pinned at 100% against a fair value of 100%, essentially no gap and nothing to trade.

On-chain vs Wall Street

Coinbase's token is the real mover, printing -415bp against its -264bp baseline, a 151bp deviation that puts the on-chain open well below its usual discount. HOOD follows at -128bp from normal; CRCL's -460bp gap looks dramatic but sits close to its habitual -382bp baseline and hasn't really moved.

StockLast closeToken vs last close
COIN$191-415 bp
HOOD$114-229 bp
CRCL$97-460 bp
MSFT$506-64 bp
GME$22-9 bp
PLTR$173-181 bp

Tokenized equities trade around the clock; gaps are vs the last regular-session close, a read on where the on-chain market prices the open.

Bottom line

With funding balanced and event markets pinned, the thing to watch is whether spot delivers enough range to justify options pricing 6 points of extra vol on both majors. If it doesn't, that richness bleeds. Keep an eye on COIN and HOOD tokens, which are pricing a softer open than their baselines.
