ETH and SOL longs lean in while BTC sits balanced

Bitcoin holds near $79,721 with a balanced book and no crowd tilt worth naming. The action is one rung down the curve: ETH and SOL both show longs paying, and their venues split hard enough to confirm it.

Positioning & volatility

AssetFunding (blended)25Δ skewImplied / realized volOpen interest
BTC+7% (HL +11 / OKX +3)+1.338.9 / 36.4$2.77B
ETH+7% (HL +11 / OKX +2)+5.452.6 / 46.4$2.31B
SOL+5% (HL +11 / OKX -2)n/an/a / 64.6$0.62B

Funding annualized; negative means shorts pay longs. 25Δ risk reversal in vol points; negative means downside hedged. Snapshots, not positions.

On ETH, funding reads longs pay with Hyperliquid at +10.9 against OKX at +2.4, a genuine positioning split that the premium confirms. The 25d skew at +5.4 leans toward upside, and implied sits above realized by 6.2 points, so options are pricing more movement than the tape has delivered. SOL tells a sharper version of the same story: longs pay on a blended +4.5, but OKX funding is actually negative at -1.9 while Hyperliquid runs +10.9, so the two books disagree on direction entirely. BTC by contrast is quiet. Its wide HL/OKX gap is a carry and mechanics artifact, not the crowd leaning, and with skew barely positive at +1.3 there is no story in the positioning.

SOL is the standout disagreement. OKX has shorts paying at -1.9 while Hyperliquid shows longs paying at +10.9, a full sign flip between venues on the same coin. That is positioning divergence, premium-confirmed, and it means the two books are pricing opposite crowds.

On-chain vs Wall Street

The real move on-chain is PLTR, which prices the open at +172bp against its usual +313bp baseline, a 141bp step below where it normally sits. CRCL looks large at +208bp but that is just 59bp above its own baseline, and everything else including HOOD is within a dozen bp of normal.

StockLast closeToken vs last close
PLTR$174+172 bp
CRCL$102+208 bp
AAPL$320+118 bp
NVDA$230+88 bp
TSLA$354+58 bp
HOOD$122+252 bp

Bottom line

Watch whether ETH and SOL funding stays split or converges as the session opens; a snap-back on OKX SOL would tell you which book was wrong. BTC's balanced read means the majors are not moving together right now, and the softer PLTR open is the one tokenized name actually saying something.
