BTC near 80k with options pricing calmer than the tape

Bitcoin marks $80,069 while realized vol has run hotter than what options are asking. Funding across venues agrees longs are paying, and the on-chain equity market is bidding crypto-linked names above their usual open.

Positioning & volatility

AssetFunding (blended)25Δ skewImplied / realized volOpen interest
BTC+11% (HL +11 / OKX +11)+7.943.9 / 46$2.97B
ETH+11% (HL +11 / OKX +11)+7.259 / 62.9$1.75B
SOL+11% (HL +11 / OKX +11)n/an/a / 64.3$0.56B

Funding annualized; negative means shorts pay longs. 25Δ risk reversal in vol points; negative means downside hedged. Snapshots, not positions.

Funding tells one story on BTC and SOL: crowds are leaning long, hard in SOL's case, and both venues read the same rate. Skew on BTC and ETH sits positive, so the upside tail carries the bid rather than downside protection. But the vol labels cut the other way on both: implied prints below realized, meaning the tape has been moving more than options are charging for. That is the tension worth holding. Positioning is long and the calls are favored, yet the market is not paying up for the movement it just lived through.

The sharpest split is inside BTC itself: positive funding and positive skew say the crowd is comfortable and long, while implied vol running 2.1 points under realized says the options market is underpricing the actual swings. When leaning-long positioning meets cheap optionality, gaps close fast if the tape stays hot.

What the prediction markets believe

Kalshi has BTC holding above $70,000 pinned at 100 percent, dead on fair. No edge there with the mark sitting near 80k.

On-chain vs Wall Street

The real move on-chain is in COIN and CRCL, both bid well past their baselines: COIN prices the open 220bp above its normal and CRCL 216bp above. NVDA and TSLA are firmer too but closer to their usual levels, so the crypto-adjacent names are where the on-chain bid is concentrated.

StockLast closeToken vs last close
COIN$179+288 bp
CRCL$88+233 bp
NVDA$208+110 bp
TSLA$349+76 bp

Bottom line

Watch whether realized vol keeps outrunning implied on BTC and ETH, because that is where the mispricing lives. Long funding plus underpriced options is a setup that resolves quickly in either direction. The on-chain bid in COIN and CRCL says risk appetite is leaning into crypto-linked equity ahead of the open.
