ETH books split as one venue leans long, the other doesn't

The tape is quiet almost everywhere, but ETH is the exception worth staring at. Hyperliquid has longs paying up at +10.9% while OKX prints negative at -1.8%, and the premium confirms the split is real positioning, not mechanics.

Positioning & volatility

AssetFunding (blended)25Δ skewImplied / realized volOpen interest
BTC+10% (HL +11 / OKX +9)-1.936.4 / 34.1$2.50B
ETH+5% (HL +11 / OKX -2)-3.349.1 / 45.2$1.78B
SOL+1% (HL -2 / OKX +3)n/an/a / 43.2$0.33B

Funding annualized; negative means shorts pay longs. 25Δ risk reversal in vol points; negative means downside hedged. Snapshots, not positions.

BTC is about as clean as it gets right now: funding balanced near +9.9% with both venues agreeing, a shallow -1.9 downside skew, and implied at 36.4 sitting just above realized 34.1. Nothing there is straining. ETH is where the crowd disagrees with itself. The blended read shows longs paying +4.6%, but that number hides a genuine venue divergence, and the -3.3 skew says the downside tail is still bid even with longs leaning in. That combination, crowded longs on one book still paying for protection, is the tension. SOL looks calm on positioning: funding is balanced despite a wide HL/OKX spread, which is a carry dislocation between venues rather than anyone leaning.

ETH is the split. Hyperliquid longs are paying +10.9% while OKX funding reads -1.8%, and because the premium confirms it, this is two books positioned differently, not a clamp artifact. Watch whether OKX catches up to the long lean or Hyperliquid unwinds toward flat.

On-chain vs Wall Street

The on-chain equity market is pricing modest green into the open, led by HOOD at +48bp and COIN at +46bp over their last closes, with CRCL and TSLA slightly firm. NVDA is the lone outlier at -4bp, essentially flat to soft.

StockLast closeToken vs last close
HOOD$100+48 bp
COIN$157+46 bp
CRCL$61+26 bp
TSLA$381+13 bp
NVDA$202-4 bp

Tokenized equities trade around the clock; gaps are vs the last regular-session close, a read on where the on-chain market prices the open.

Bottom line

The single thing to track is whether the ETH venue gap converges by the open or widens further. BTC and SOL positioning give you no reason to expect fireworks, so the ETH funding split and its bid downside tail carry the read. On the tokenized side, watch if the HOOD and COIN premiums hold or fade as the session approaches.
